For millions of football fans, this deal came at the right time, given that the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers would appear in this week`s game on Fox. Both teams have incredibly massive fanbases and the loss of access to this game would have caused considerable problems. For nearly two weeks, NFL and MLB fans have been undying to see fox because of a contractual dispute between the band and DISH Network. This led to advertisements on the DISH remove the sport, as well as an outcry from fans of both leagues. However, the situation changed with the announcement that the satellite provider and Fox have reached a multi-year agreement that did not disclose the conditions. The fight between Dish and Fox became so hot that it even included the National Football League. Fox`s « Thursday Night Football » is usually broadcast on the NFL Network as part of a broader deal between the league and Fox Broadcasting simulcasting, but the NFL last week refused to provide its cables to dish or Sling subscribers, a way to protect Fox`s flagship show. Cable 1 is one of three providers in the Twins vision area that has not reached an agreement with FSN to transfer all 150 games. Cable One will broadcast 116 games.
Today`s game will not be on cable one. Dish and HBO have been in conflict for months, a step that has left the latest season of « Game of Thrones » unnoticed by satellite subscribers. On September 26, Fox channels went to see Dish customers after they could not reach an agreement. Dish claimed that Fox was demanding double-digit price increases, while Fox claimed that the satellite TV service provider was using the blackout as a trading round. In the end, they agreed on a compromise. In a statement, Dish said, « We appreciate the patience of our customers as we work to reach a long-term agreement that restores Fox networks and local channels. » « After lengthy negotiations to reach a fair agreement, we are pleased to reach a long-term agreement with Fox and to assure our customers that they can continue to use these channels, » said Dave Shull, Senior Vice President of Programming at DISH Network. « We thank our customers, retail and chain partners, and employees for their support through these negotiations, which we believe have resulted in a fair deal that strengthens dish Networks` position as the best TV value. » After a week and a half, the fight between Dish Network and Fox is over.
